APPS Database
The APPS Database project will address the need for a practice or established methodology to numerically determine cost-benefit, opportunity cost, or ROI on information created for accountability, planning and performance reporting. Along with other considerations, a comprehensive accountability information system will enable the Board of Trustees to assess Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system performance and set priorities.
The primary objective is to define and design an integrated database to serve multiple reporting initiatives by multiple audiences within the system. The APPS Database project will bring these different initiatives together in a single system- supported application. There are currently several information initiatives moving in similar directions. Specifically, these separate initiatives all:
- Are highly visible projects with strategically important deliverables
- Require similar, and in some cases overlapping, sets of data and metrics
- Could, and maybe should, utilize the same technologies
This project will strategically address four individual initiatives as one project, called Accountability, Planning, and Performance System (APPS):
- Accountability Measures for the Board of Trustees
- CUPPS for Program Planning
- Online Learning
- Perkins
- Fact Book for a very broad audience
